A Tribute to Lok Nayak Jayprakash Narayan. Seminar on "Global Quest for Participatory Democracy", 20-22 February 2004, JNU, New Delhi.
The Proposed Seminar will focus on the imperatives and consequences of the movements for participatory democracy through conceptual, empirical and comparative presentations to underline the outstanding features of the quest for participatory democracy in the modern world system. It will also create an interface between the practitioners (Politicians), the observer (media person), and the analysts (social scientists) to generate a meaningful dialogue about the phenomena in India and other democracies. It is expected that this will help us in understanding the challenge of transforming the polity to make it more humane, ethical, and relevant for the common citizens.

The seminar will have the follwing sub themes:

*Philosophy and Sociology of Democracy.
